In a recent blog I wrote about how with a few tweaks it is possible to use a single video in a multitude of different ways and on variety of platforms. After spending a lot of time and money in producing one video you obviously want to make the most of it and get it out for the world to see. One of our clients recently acted upon this advice and after we produced an animated video for them to be shown at an exhibition, that video has now been re-purposed and translated into multiple languages to shown on their international websites around the world.
Another one of our clients has done something similar. Uniquely Organic EcoSpa asked us to produce a promotional video primarily for use on their website that could also then be displayed on a large screen to encourage passers-by to pop in and find out more.
I thought it might be helpful to show the two versions of the video to demonstrate how it has been altered for the different purposes.
The differences should jump out at you just after a few seconds. The screen video has no sound – no talking heads or background music. This is obviously because the people who will see the video wouldn’t be able to hear it even if they wanted to. Instead we have replaced the talking heads and key messages with text. We’ve ensured that the text is kept in line with the branding of the company and made it big and bold. We also have it animated to make it as eye catching as possible to grab the attention of people walking by.
Now, this isn’t a massive change, (and maybe it wasn’t even worth writing a blog about) but the point I’m trying to get across is that the second video cost a fraction of the price of the first one but our client has ended up with two great marketing tools. So next time you’re thinking about having a video made, why not try planning ahead and see how you can make the most of your marketing budget.
