Building an Oak Garage With Room Above

Brief: To produce a film that detailed the build process and features of a completed oak garage with room above by The Classic Barn Company.

The Classic Barn Company is an award-winning design and build company that specialises in oak framing. They commissioned us to handle the filming and editing of several videos focusing on their traditional oak framed garage buildings with creative room above living spaces.

The focus of these videos is to showcases the beauty and functionality of their Classic Barns, highlighting the craftsmanship and attention to detail that sets them apart from the competition. To accompany the launch of this film we developed social media shorts utilising some of the extra footage from the shoot to keep the content fresh and appealing.

The approach was to set a tone with the audience that related to the rural areas across the South of England the company works in, so the film starts with some beautiful sunrise shots of the countryside where the oak garage with room above is located before we introduce the oak building itself.

Featuring aerial drone shots, close-up details of the barn and timelapse sequences of the build, the film captures the essence of an oak garage building and the workmanship that goes into building one.

The brief was also to focus on the wording that accompanied the video ensuring the viewer received the key messages our client wanted to get across both visually and in voice; to do this effectively we auditioned several voice actors with some sampling that lead to the selected voice used throughout.

Synonymous with the company’s ethos for attention to detail, after completing the film we then took the production through the colour grading process as well as creating a atmospheric sound track including music which further enhanced the film and the emotion it portrays.

Some of the most pleasing elements of this production were filming into dusk to capture the building during the evening golden hour of light and at sunset where the pressure is on to capture the right footage in the closing minutes of the day.

The final film and social media shorts are being used as part of a wider online marketing push across YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and our clients website.
