New kit – DJI Mini 3 Pro Drone
Here at Echo we are always looking at the latest technology and products that will enhance our productions and give our clients a better in-house experience when working with us. Our latest edition to our camera bag is the DJI Mini 3 Pro drone to compliment our larger (but still pretty small) DJI Mavic 2 Zoom drone.
In recent years, drone technology has revolutionised the way we can capture content for promotional and corporate films. The DJI Mini 3 Pro drone is a drone that is incredibly helpful as it primarily allows us to fly in places that we couldn’t before and to fly closer to our subjects. In this blog, we will explore the features of the DJI Mini 3 Pro that make it an excellent choice for corporate film production and how our A2 Certificate of Competency qualification helps to us to push things even further.
Compact and Lightweight
First and foremost, the DJI Mini 3 Pro is incredibly compact and lightweight, weighing just 249g. When used in conjunction with an A2 Certificate of Competency, the DJI Mini 3 Pro offers additional benefits for corporate film production. An A2 Certificate of Competency is a certification that allows drone pilots to fly their drones in congested areas or near people, which is often necessary for capturing footage in urban environments or at events.
As the drone is to lightweight it’s the perfect choice for when pack weight is a consideration. This could be something fairly mundane such as travelling to a shoot using the train, where we want to pack everything into a single bag (+ tripod!). Or it could be for an adventure where hiking or even running is required to cover ground quickly and to get those slightly harder places to reach. As well as its weight its size is also important because space is usually tight in these scenarios.
A2 Certificate of Competency
One of the main benefits of using an A2 Certificate of Competency with the DJI Mini 3 Pro is that it allows us to fly the drone in more locations, giving us and our clients greater flexibility when it comes to capturing footage. With the certificate, we can fly the drone closer to buildings, people, and other objects, which can help to create more engaging and dynamic footage for corporate videos.
Another benefit of using an A2 Certificate of Competency with the DJI Mini 3 Pro is that it allows us to fly the drone more safely and confidently. The certificate requires pilots to undergo training and demonstrate their knowledge of drone regulations, airspace rules, and safety procedures. This means that pilots who hold the certificate are better equipped to handle unexpected situations and respond to emergencies, which can help to prevent accidents or damage to property.
Landscape and Portrait Modes
Another key feature of the DJI Mini 3 Pro is its 4K camera, which is capable of capturing high-quality footage at 60 frames per second. The camera is mounted on a three-axis gimbal, which ensures that the footage remains stable and smooth even when the drone is flying at high speeds or in windy conditions. The DJI Mini 3 Pro drone is one of the first drones to have a camera that can rotate to capture true 9:16 footage, so fantastic for all your social media needs!
Automation
For the majority of the time we fly and capture all of our drone content using the manual function as it gives us full control, but occasionally some automated features can be helpful! The DJI Mini 3 Pro has a range of intelligent flight modes that make it easier to capture specific shots. For example, the drone’s QuickShot modes allow you to capture cinematic footage with a single tap, while the ActiveTrack mode allows you to track and follow moving objects or people automatically. These features are particularly useful for capturing dynamic footage of products or people in action.
Safety
DJI Mini 3 Pro also boasts a number of safety features that are essential for corporate film production. These include obstacle detection and avoidance, which uses sensors to detect and avoid obstacles in the drone’s path, and a Return-to-Home function, which automatically returns the drone to its take-off point if it loses connection with the remote control or the battery level becomes too low. These safety features help to ensure that the drone can be flown safely and reliably in a range of different environments.
It also has a number of features that are designed to help us fly the drone safely and within the regulations. For example, the drone’s geofencing feature uses GPS to create virtual boundaries around areas where drone flights are restricted or prohibited, and it alerts us if we try to fly the drone in these areas. The drone also has a low-noise design, which helps to reduce the noise levels generated by the propellers and minimize disturbance to people and wildlife.
Efficiency
The DJI Mini 3 Pro also has an impressive battery life, with a maximum flight time of up to 31 minutes. This means that we can capture a lot of footage on a single charge, reducing the need for frequent battery changes and ensuring that we can capture the shots you need without interruption. The drone also features a range of intelligent battery management features, such as low-battery warnings and automatic hibernation, which help to extend the life of the battery and ensure that it can be used safely and reliably over the long term.
